Greater Shantallow Community Online is a new and exciting venture for the Greater Shantallow Area Partnership and many of the Community / voluntary groups from the area. This Web presence will provide yet another medium for groups to promote themselves and make others aware of the services they provide. Ultimately it provides community and voluntary groups, agencies and individuals from within the Greater Shantallow area an information resource on all relevant services that are available. In addition the Web site will be updated regularly to provide community groups with vital information regarding new funding, up coming events etc. A discussion forum is also incorporated into the Web site. This will provide groups and individuals the opportunity to express views on various issues as they affect the Greater Shantallow area.

The Greater Shantallow Area Partnership (GSAP) is one of seven area-based partnerships within the Derry city council area. It defines its role as acting as a central resource for individuals and groups in the Greater Shantallow area by providing support in the areas of: influencing policy makers and service providers; identifying and articulating local needs, developing networks and contacts, arguing the case for local investment, identifying and promoting major projects and plans for the area, developing information to and gathering feedback from groups in the area, helping to establish and develop community based action groups, assist groups to develop plans and make funding applications.

Membership of the GSAP is open to all bona fide community-based and voluntary organisations in the Greater Shantallow area, representatives of statutory organisations, the private sector and other agencies whose activities impinge on the development and well being of the area, who have responsibility for the area or whose remit would enable them to contribute to such developments.
